Edit audio in your browser

A compact editor for real work: a multi-clip timeline with undo, markers and crossfades, plus a mastering chain with EQ, dynamics and loudness — all running locally.

How to use it

  1. Open one or more files; they become clips on a single timeline.
  2. Cut, split, duplicate, reorder and fade clips. Every step goes into the undo history (Ctrl/⌘+Z, Shift+Ctrl/⌘+Z).
  3. Shape the sound in Effects: high-pass, 3-band EQ, gate, compressor, gain, normalize and limiter, in that fixed order.
  4. Compare with A/B (bypass effects) while playing.
  5. Save the project file to continue later, and export when finished.

Signal chain

Clip edits (trim, fades, gain, reverse, crossfades) are rendered first. The master chain then runs in a fixed order: channel remix, speed/pitch, high-pass and low-pass filters, 3-band EQ (low shelf 200 Hz, peak 1 kHz, high shelf 4 kHz), noise gate, compressor, gain, normalization and limiter. A 10-band EQ is not available yet.

All processing is offline and deterministic: the same project always renders the same samples, which makes exports reproducible.

Projects and recovery

The edit list (not your audio) is auto-saved in this browser. If the tab closes, reopen the site and drop the same files to relink them; matching is by name and size. You can also save a .musiccutter.json project file to move work between devices. The browser warns you before closing a tab with unsaved edits.

Questions

Is this a full DAW?

No. It is a single-timeline editor without multitrack mixing, plugins or MIDI. It focuses on cutting, joining and finishing audio accurately.

Does it work offline?

After the site has loaded once, the app files are cached by a service worker, and editing works without a connection. The page tells you when offline use is ready.

Where is my project stored?

In this browser's IndexedDB, only the edit list and file names. Clear it from the Project panel at any time.
